In total, the project has approximately 140,000 m2 (14 hectares) of concrete pavement slabs to construct for six remote stands – five with in-ground jet fuel reticulation, other services, and Taxiway Lima. This is an opportunity to visit the project, and view the new pavement slip form process first hand. Following the recent successful concrete pavement trials using the Wirtgen SP94i slipform Paver and TCM 180 texture curing machine – the largest paving train available in Australasia, and the first and only one of its kind in New Zealand. It will deliver significant productivity and quality benefits, unlocking the next stage of Auckland Airport’s development programme.

The site visit is limited to 20 people and is only open to Engineering New Zealand members. PPE required (hard hat, safety glasses, hi-vis, safety boots).
