The Engineering Heritage Chapters tell local heritage stories, run events and connect and collaborate with other local heritage organisations.

There are currently four Engineering Heritage Chapters around the country – Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. The groups are open to all with an interest in engineering heritage. New members are welcome to join at any time. The group meets regularly.

The activity of the heritage Chapters includes:

  • Collaborating on local storytelling opportunities
  • Advocating for local engineering heritage
  • Taking part in local heritage festivals
  • Contributing knowledge and expertise to Engineering New Zealand’s Heritage Record entries
  • Social outings to engineering heritage sites of interest
  • Keeping an ear to the ground for heritage issues and events in their region
  • Maintaining connections with local heritage organisations
