The Heritage Group is a cross-disciplinary special interest group for engineers and professionals in adjacent sectors who work with heritage structures, sites, and values.

The goals of the group are to promote collaboration across the heritage sector and to support the development of best practice guidance for heritage.

Members are a mix of experienced heritage professionals and those with an interest wanting to build their skills and knowledge. The group welcomes members from a range of disciplines including engineers, architects, archaeologists and planners. Members are based all around the country. New members are welcome at any time.

Join the committee

The committee is made up of up to eight members who work to organise events and lead long and short-term projects.

What’s involved?

The Heritage Group committee meets online for one hour each month. Further time may be spent working on projects or organising events.

  • Current projects the committee is working on include
    • Development of a heritage endorsement for engineers that can be added to their engineering registration
    • Development of New Zealand specific heritage guidelines for engineers
