Gwyneth will share the vision for this corridor, which is owned by KiwiRail, as established by the joint KiwiRail-Auckland Transport 2023 Auckland Rail Programme Business Case. She will also discuss what it could mean for both connectivity and reliability of the rail network in Auckland, as well as efficiency gains for the national rail freight network. Gwyneth will share KiwiRail’s current plans for progression of planning for this corridor amidst challenging economic and funding conditions, including reconsideration of how this cross-isthmus rail corridor might be used to create wider benefits for Auckland and how this could appeal to a broad set of potential investors.

Gwyneth MacLeod is Head of Network Strategy and Investment within KiwiRail’s Capital Projects and Asset Development group. Gwyneth joined KiwiRail in 2020 to establish its Strategic Metro Investments function, focussing on the infrastructure and investment needs of our metro networks over the short, medium and long-term horizons. Her career prior to this was in Corporate Finance and Strategy Consulting principally in the UK and wider Europe. She has more than 25 years’ experience across transport infrastructure including capital planning and infrastructure strategy, commercial diligence in infrastructure transactions, value enhancement and economic regulation of assets.
