This is the headquarters for NZTA pavement testing and design in the South Island. On this tour we will see the latest in pavement design analysis, both on site and in the field.

The crown jewel of the testing facility is the Simulated Loading and Vehicle Emulator (SLAVE). SLAVE is a rotational testing rig used on a full depth pavement to test various aspects of pavement construction. Previous tours have also included looking at the instrumentation lab where new and innovative devices are created for aiding in research.

Following the tour join us for drinks and nibbles.

PPE (hard hat, hi-vis vest, and safety boots) required.
