As a result of the global drive to reduce greenhouse gas emissions there is a rapidly increasing interest in how hydrogen can be used as an energy source or feedstock for other industrial processes.
There are an increasing number of projects in New Zealand investigating how hydrogen can be used by businesses here to reduce their dependence on fossil fuels. However there are some particular characteristics of hydrogen that engineers designing plant to make, store or use hydrogen need to take into account in the design to reduce the risk of loss of containment, fires and explosions so far as is reasonably practicable. We’ll cover how we assess and quantify the hazard, and what we typically need to consider and implement in the design of a plant.
This is a practical application of the principles of safety by design. This webinar is presented by Nicky Turnbull, a Safety and Risk Engineer for Worley based in New Plymouth.
The New Zealand Society for Safety Engineering invite you to join them for this webinar discussing applying safety in design principles to plants making, storing and using hydrogen.
