Following legislation recently brought in by Government, Councils across the country have been asked to meet new, stricter rules around financial management and the quality of their drinking water, stormwater and wastewater services – the three waters. Managing water infrastructure is a substantial part of the council’s day-to-day operations and makes a significant contribution to the well-being and health of our district.
The council is now on a timeframe set by the government to decide the preferred option for our future delivery model for water services, and to formally consult with the community in early 2025.
Kathryn Stewart is the Three Waters Transition Manager at Whanganui District Council and will be discussing the future options for water services delivery for Whanganui in response to recent legislation changes under the Local Water Done Well policy. Kathryn will provide a brief presentation at the event, followed by a Q&A session.
