This unit explores the role of a geotechnical engineer - what to consider when assessing an EQ Cover claim (including for storm and flood damage), how to prepare for a site assessment, and considering how Schedule 3 of the EQC Act may be relevant.

Te Ao Rangahau Engineering New Zealand hosts this unit on behalf of Toka Tū Ake The Earthquake Commission, who developed the unit content. This unit is the third in a series of five units designed to be completed in order, providing information and guidance to support Geotechnical specialists when assessing an EQC claim for an EQC Assessor. If you have not completed the previous units in the series, it is recommended that you do so prior to commencing this unit.

In this unit, we will explore your role as a geotechnical engineer and what you need to consider when assessing an EQCover claim. We will look at how you can prepare for a site assessment, which includes considering how Schedule 3 of the EQC Act may be relevant. We will also review what storm and flood damage is covered by the EQC Act.
