Engineering New Zealand is the Registration Authority for Chartered Professional Engineers. We work to ensure the CPEng system is fit-for-purpose and that registrants, regulators and the public have ongoing confidence in the work we do. Ultimately our goal is to improve public safety outcomes.
In 2024, we launched a dedicated Registration Authority website, so that all CPEng information can be easily found in one place. For the most up-to-date information about CPEng, please go to the Registration Authority website.
In October and November 2024, we consulted on a series of changes to the Chartered Professional Engineers Rules 2002. We proposed:
- Establishing rules for the creation of new classes
- Changing how we do continued registration assessments
- Strengthening the complaints and disciplinary system.
We received 180 submissions on the proposals.
