Engineers need to be climate action leaders and develop innovative solutions to climate change, but many feel they don’t have the necessary skills and knowledge to do so.
Te Ao Rangahau has collaborated with leading engineers, scientists and a Te Ao Māori expert to develop a self-led online module specifically curated for engineers practicing in Aotearoa.
The module will introduce some of the key elements of climate change, discuss the challenges and provide ideas for use in engineering projects.
You’ll be introduced to the Circular Design Framework to guide you on integrating the three circular economy principles in the delivery of projects: eliminate waste and pollution, circulate products and materials (at their highest value) and regenerate natural systems.
You’ll also receive recommendations on how best to work and collaborate proactively with Māori to better inform decision-making on sustainable practices. Plus, you’ll learn how to minimise the impact of your work on our climate by adopting sustainable practices, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and engaging in sustainable design and building for resiliency.
